Update on Road Issues

I want to keep you informed of progress and issues that we are dealing with on the road.

1. We completed the new ditching and sluice work at the start of the road. The poor drainage was causing water overflow and loss of the blacktop in that section. We will placing warning stakes in the ditch to mark it, as it is deep in some spots, and re-blacktopping this section to finalize the project. We will then be blacktopping this section as well as several other bad spots.

2. We plan on another round of smoothing and reducing potholes in the middle of Aug. We will be using our new equipment to complete this work. Due to the lateness of the season we will not be putting calcium chloride on the road this year to control dust and harden the road surface after this work. We will be including this in our road plan for next year. However, a bag of calcium is available to all home owners if you contact me or Larry Lipfert.

3. Our Road Sponsorship program has been great. We have raised close to a $1000.00 from our local contractors. Please use them when doing projects. In addition, we have raised nearly $1500.00 from generous contributors on the road to go to road work, thank you. These funds will go to ditching, water control and surface of the road. On August 24th, Cornell will be here to help us develop a plan to address these issues.

4. I contacted the Cayuga County Soil and Conservation. I expressed our concerns over run off and erosionĀ and the blocking of our road for emergency equipment and aid due to slides. We are pursuing this avenue to assist us in the overall road maintenance plan. I feel the county has a stake in this and should assist us with these problems. A meeting will be arranged after our meeting with Cornell.

5. I have contacted a Corporate Attorney to discuss the legal aspects of Association. We will explore the legal standing of the Association as it relates to our ability to collect dues, levy liens, homeowner right away and responsibility. I think it Is critical to get legal opinions on these matters as we re-structure our organization. I will continue with updates as we move forward.
